Huma Pasha has joined the Firm in 2015 and brings with her rich working experience of more than 35 years in energy sector and experience of managing credit, treasury and internal audit functions at leadership positions of well-known multinational Organizations. Her prominent skill set is training and she is a vibrant trainer at well-reputed educational & business forums all across Pakistan. Huma is a Fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP), a Certified Internal Auditor from the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), USA, and a Certified Internal Control Auditor from the Institute of Internal Controls, USA (IIC), moreover she has also obtained certification in Risk Management Assurance from the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), USA.

On concluding her professional training from A.F. Ferguson in 1975, she joined Citibank and continued working for over 12 years till 1986 and served in Pakistan, UAE and Bahrain as Head of Credit. Huma was part of the team that introduced and automated the Citibank branches in UAE and Bahrain in 1978 when computers were first introduced into offices.

Huma has extensive work experience in the Energy and Power Sector. She joined The Hub Power Company (Hubco); Pakistan’s first independent power producer (IPP) in 1993 to head their Loan & Treasury department and was able to achieve financial close within 18 months of joining. Her main role was negotiation of the international syndicated loan facility of $712 million as well as the subordinated facility of $425 million funded by the World Bank. She also negotiated all the commercial documents such as the Power Purchase Agreement, the Fuel Supply agreement etc., which were then used as the basis for other independent power producers.

Huma was a major player in the setup of two new projects implemented by Hubco, specifically the Narowal Power Project; RFO-fired, engine based, combined cycle power station and Laraib Energy; run-off-the-river “Pakistan’s first private sector hydropower project”. Shemoved to head the Internal Audit function in 1996 to implement effective compliance and risk management policies. Because of her strong power industry background she was able to conclude and implement many technical audits and continued playing this leadership role till 2012.

In 2013 she joined Dawood Hercules Group as Group Head Internal Audit for their public limited companies i.e. Dawood Hercules Corporation, Dawood Lawrencepur Ltd., Dawood Fertilizer Ltd., and Cyan Ltd. as well as their private companies. Huma implemented a risk management system and led group-wide training workshops to share best practices across these corporates.She established strong professional association with the Chairman, the Board of Directors as well as the CEO of these companies and was part of all Group Audit Committees.

Huma is an active contributor at the Institute of Internal Auditors Global and worked for over 10 years on the Professional Issues Committee of IIA Global and many other committees. She was involved in reviewing and updating the internal audit standards and draft papers of other professional bodies such as IAC, Basel, COSO, and PCAOB. In recognition of her services to Institute of Internal Auditors Global she has been placed on the cover page of the Annual Report of Institute of Internal Auditors in 2006. Huma has been the President of IIA Karachi Chapter as well served as the President of ISACA Karachi Chapter for four years.

Because of her highly technical knowledge and skills, she has been chosen by the State Bank of Pakistan for carrying out quality control review of their internal audit function which she has successfully concluded in 2010. Huma is a professional trainer and for the past 20 years she is piloting seminars and conferences for the organizations that she worked for as well as for Institute of Internal Auditors-ISACA Karachi Chapter, Pakistan Institute of Corporate Governance-PICG, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan-ICAP and Institute of Business Administration-IBA.

As first Chairperson of the Chartered Accountants Women’s Forum of ICAP in 2010, she laid down foundation for all CA Women to follow the path of professional excellence and has created many opportunities for networking and professional grooming. Huma was a member of ICAP’s Continued Development Committee, IT Committee, PAIB Committee and has also served on their Quality Assurance Board in 2009-2011.

Huma is certified director and currently serving on the Board of Hi-Tech Alloy Wheels and is the chairperson of their audit committee.
